Pearl Jam “Yellow Ledbetter.” One of the most beautiful melodies and great guitar solos.  Though Eddie changes the lyrics it seems with every performance, it is nonetheless so touching and heartfelt - clearly about loss if nothing else. I’m a sucker for all those 90’s alt rock bands.

Today’s “Haven’s Happenstance” #song - “The Party Series” “Stop” by Jane’s Addiction. This is one of my fav songs to get ready for a night out, makes me wanna jump up & down.

Starting to realize that my series of party songs has an undertone of rebellion and doing what you want, when you want. It started with Ozzie’s Crazy Train, AWK’s Party Hard and this awesome one by Jane’s Addiction - who, by the way, have a new album coming out in October. And I can’t wait. So far the singles they’ve released are just as energetic and upbeat rock as what we’ve come to expect from these 90’s rockers.

Cool lyrics too, check it out:

“Save the complaints
For a party conversation.
The world is loaded,
It’s lit to pop and nobody is gonna stop…

No one…
No one!
No way!
Gonna stop,
Now; go!

Farm people,
Book wavers, soul savers,
Love preachers!
Lit to pop and nobody is gonna stop.

No one…

One come a day, the water will run,
No man will stand for things that he had done…
Hurrah!”

Today’s “Haven’s Happenstance” #song - “The Departing Series:” “Ubiquitous Mr. Lovegrove” by Dead Can Dance. Art by Suharik moi via andthenhewasflowers.tumblr.com

As “The Departing Series” takes a turn for moody heartfelt songs starting with Moby’s “Porcelain,” this DCD tune is brooding with a haunting, Middle Eastern-like melody featuring Brendan Perry’s gorgeous, sexy deep voice. The lyrics are full of conviction and tell the story of a lover’s disillusionment and goodbye. From their 1993 album “Into the Labyrinth”

“I thought that you knew it all
Well you’ve seen it ten times before.
I thought that you had it down
With both your feet on the ground.
I love slow…slow but deep.
Feigned affections wash over me.
Dream on my dear
And renounce temporal obligations.
Dream on my dear
It’s a sleep from which you may not awaken.

You build me up then you knock me down.
You play the fool while I play the clown.
We keep time to the beat of an old slave drum.
You raise my hopes then you raise the odds
You tell me that I dream too much
Now I’m serving time in disillusionment.

I don’t believe you anymore…I don’t believe you.

I thought that I knew it all
I’d seen all the signs before.
I thought that you were the one
In darkness my heart was won.

You build me up then you knock me down.
You play the fool while I play the clown.
We keep time to the beat of an old slave drum.
You raise my hopes then you raise the odds
You tell me that I dream too much
Now I’m serving time in a domestic graveyard.

I don’t believe you anymore…I don’t believe you.

Never let it be said I was untrue
I never found a home inside of you.
Never let it be said I was untrue
I gave you all my time.”

“Haven’s Happenstance: The Departing Series:”  This week I continue my exploration of all facets of love and relationships, and am dedicating it to departing, breaking-up, the moments when we realize it’s best we go our separate ways- for good, forever, be gone.

Today’s “Haven’s Happenstance” song - “The Sexy Series”: “It’s All For You” by Janet Jackson. What could be #sexy naughtier than the lyric “Got a nice package alright, Guess I’m gonna have to ride it tonight,” LOL. My super girl-friend reminded of me this song as we dished on sexy songs by women. So as “The Sexy Series” continues at HavenStory, let’s take a turn to naughty songs, more to come xo

Sexy. Sex. Love. Romance. Lust. F.
Whatever gets you in the mood. This week “Haven’s Happenstance” photo/video song series takes a departure from the more emotional fare and explores some of the sexiest music (according to my mind and hormones :). Over the week I’ll post some sexy tunes to make love to, some to tease to, some about sex, some that make you just want to get some and such… don’t blush…

Today’s “Haven’s Happenstance” song “The Sexy Series”: “Roads” by Portishead. This entire album, really, is perfect for all sorts of love and lust.  Dummy (1994), it’s a must have.
